"Master’s Degree Programme in Finance has given me the required tools and skills to step in to the career in finance, as well as the mindset and capability to continue my professional growth after the graduation."

Master’s Degree Programme in Finance of University of Vaasa gave me the essential foundation and knowledge for my career. The skillset acquired from my studies has made the starting learning curve less steep at the beginning of my career and has made it possible to quickly expand and strengthen my knowledge on-the-job basis.

Over the course of my studies, I worked summers at Nordea Bank. The continuous development in my studies allowed me to take and seek more challenging positions within the bank each summer. After the graduation, I worked in Corporate Finance at KPMG and currently I’m working as an analyst at Solidium. Especially, UniVaasa’s corporate finance and investment related courses gave me the mandatory tools and understanding to succeed in the respecting jobs. Additionally, the more academical courses have given me more thorough understanding over the subjects and strengthened my overall learning and thinking methods that are imperative as one cannot learn everything just from the school bench – continuous learning is required and expected.

In addition to the knowledge, I appreciate deeply the friends I gained over my studies at UniVaasa. As the student base was relatively diverse and many had international backgrounds, it was fun and interesting to work together in the course projects. These projects and presenting the findings in front of the class are valuable learning opportunities, because often in your career it is not enough that you just conduct an analysis, but you will also need to present it clearly in front of your colleagues or clients.

To sum it up, the Master’s Degree Programme in Finance has given me the required tools and skills to step in to the career in finance, as well as the mindset and capability to continue my professional growth after the graduation.
