How do I get to Vaasa? When should I arrive? Will there be someone to pick me up?

When to arrive?

International students are recommended to arrive in Vaasa during the official arrival days. During those days, the University of Vaasa offers a pick-up service for the international students. The international tutors will meet you at the airport or railway station, and there is a transport organised to your apartment. The tutors will also show you around your new apartment. In order to organize this, you will be asked for your arrival and accommodation details closer to the Arrival days.

Keep in mind that this service is only guaranteed during the official arrival days.

Arrival days for the academic year 2020-2021:

  • Autumn semester: 24-25 August 2020
  • Spring semester (for exchange students): 4 January 2020

Even if you do not arrive on those days, we recommend to avoid arriving on weekends or on public holidays. On those days our offices are closed and international tutors (fellow students who will help you during your first days in Vaasa) are not necessarily available.
