SolarX - Maximizing PV integration capacity in energy and power systems

The aim of this project is to remove technical barriers of extensive solar power integration into power systems, as well as to enable easy access to the power markets for the new prosumers having local photovoltaic (PV) power generation.

Novel solutions are proposed regarding the use of energy storages in various system levels, control and operation of microgrids, reactive power management, as well as control and operation of PV inverters. Enabling technologies investigated will be5G for connectivity, digital platforms for market integration and block chains for exchanging energy and related data. In addition, novel primary components and technologies will be examined and experimented for medium and low voltage networks in order to enhance PV hosting capacity of these networks. This public research project is realized as a cooperation of several Universities and in parallel with the company specific research projects aiming for new products and business concepts in the field of global solar PV business with considerable increase in revenues.
