SolarX - Maximizing PV integration capacity in energy and power systems

The aim of this project is to remove technical barriers of extensive solar power integration into power systems, as well as to enable easy access to the power markets for the new prosumers having local photovoltaic (PV) power generation.


FLEXIMAR, Novel marketplace for energy flexibility

Target of the research project is to enable also participation of distribution network connected smaller, flexible energy resources (flexibilities) large-scale utilization in future power systems.



In the FUSE project (Future Smart Energy) advanced methods basing on artificial intelligence and use of hierarchical communication system are being researched and developed for the operation and monitoring of Smart Grids.


SG Platform

The main target of the project is to prepare a group of R&D projects which will develop new solutions to the improvement of the reliability, flexibility and economy of electricity distribution networks and facilitate the connection of renewable power generation to the power system by applying energy storages, Big Data and analytics, IoT and 5G communication. SESP – Smart Energy Systems Research Platform is a project in the AIKO-program relating to the theme ”digitalization and innovation environment” in the growth agreement made between government and Vaasa region. The project is executed by the University of Vaasa in cooperation with Svenska handelshögskolan (Hanken) at Vaasa.


VINPOWER - Vaasa Innovation Platform for Future Power Systems

FESSMI – Future energy storage solutions in marine installations – is a project under Innovative Cities programme, which is funded by European Regional Development Fund.



Protect-DG - New techniques for the management of power system faults and distributed generation –project belongs to the national INKA (innovative cities) program and it is funded by EU trough the European Regional Development Fund.
