Registration

New master's students must register at the University personally by 15 September 2019 at the very latest. For new doctoral students the deadline is the same and they organise an individual registration appointment by contacting the Admissions Services office.

If you fail to register at the University by the deadline, your study right for the programme will be cancelled. Please also note that you have to start your studies in the programme in the beginning of autumn semester 2019 and register as attending for the whole first academic year. You cannot register as non-attending and you cannot postpone the beginning of your studies to the next semester or academic year.

Registration Sessions

Registration for master's degree and exchange students is done in registration sessions organised in the beginning of the semester. The new master's degree and exchange students should attend one of the registration sessions. The registration takes approximately one hour.

The new students are asked to fill in a registration form in these meetings. Students are also given a username and temporary password for the university computers and university e-mail. Some parts of the registration process are, however, status-specific.

Master's Students

All information given by the applicant in the application form will be compared with the applicant’s original documents upon registration to verify their authenticity. Therefore you should have the following documents with you for the registration:

  • original degree certificate(s)
  • original transcript(s) of records
  • passport
  • proof that you have paid the Student Union membership fee

The original certificates and transcripts will be collected by Admission Services for verification and you can pick them up in approximately one month from registration. It is important that your name is clearly visible on all documents you hand in for verification. The presence of counterfeit, fraudulent or altered documents will lead to a refusal and the student’s right to study at the University of Vaasa will be terminated.
