Levón Institute in Seinäjoki


The University of Vaasa is one of five universities operating at the University Consortium of Seinäjoki. The University of Vaasa's operations in Southern Ostrobothnia are coordinated by the Levón Institute, which plans and implements research, training and development operations based on the University's expertise to serve the province.

The Levón Institute combines its own offerings with those of the University and markets the results in Seinäjoki: these include Open University activities, Master's programmes, the productisation of the work research professors undertake and energy research.

The Levón Institute is a research and education centre belonging to the University of Vaasa. It offers research, education and development services to customers outside of the university. The Open University, which offers university studies, is part of Levón.

Professors of different subjects at the University of Vaasa work at the University Consortium of Seinäjoki as part of the universities' shared Epanet network. Professor Petri Helo works in the field of logistics, Professor Harri Luomala researches consumer behaviour and Professor Marko Kohtamäki's field is entrepreneurship. In addition, Reino Virrankoski leads the agricultural technology research group.
